As planned the r 40 worth of insulation has drastically reduced his heating bill but now he faces another unexpected problem. They keep your home cooler in the summer warmer in the winter and free from damage caused by moisture. The normal indoor humidity range in winter should be 15 to 50 percent. If it dips below 30 it s much too dry and if it s above 50 the high humidity may start to feel uncomfortable.

A home with a healthy humidity level can have numerous benefits. If there is excessive moisture accumulation in your attic it will condense on cold areas mainly on the underside of your roof deck. During the winter months the recommended relative humidity inside a house is anywhere between 30 50 percent. The results are that the attic temperature is close to the outside temperature but the relative humidity is significantly higher in the attic than either the indoor or outdoor readings.
